Franceschina. Photograph by Louis Stein.
The skirt for Franceschina is made up of 16 different petals made of foss shape and covered in fabric.  In order to shape the foss shape, I carved a mold from foam.
Stretching and setting the foss shape over the mold.
Mock up fitting with just the skirt.
Mock-up fitting of the entire costumes.  The foss shape skirt is paired with a fitted bodice and an apron that will eventually consist of seven different fabrics.
After the mock-up fitting, it was decided to add a divot to make the sections of the skirt more petal-like.
A view of the inside of one of the petals.
Fabric Fitting.  Here you can see the multiple fabrics in the apron.
