I patterened and made the trousers for Lucretia.  They consist of three layers: the fashion fabric, a nylon crinoline supported with rigilene, and a lining. Photograph by Louis Stein.
 This is the mock-up of the trousers.  I first tried to use minimal structure in the trousers, opting for just some horse hair in the hem.  The designer, however, wanted to have the trouser legs look like a ringing bell when the actress mov
 Here you can see the width of the legs.  The designer and I decided to leave the width in until we could see what the added structure would do to the trouser legs.
 The structure layer now made the trouser legs too triagular.  I would end up removing 15 inches from each leg for the final piece, as seen in the show photos.
